Senior OT, Director, and certified ADOS-2 assessor. She’s our early intervention specialist with a knack for complex disability presentations. When she’s not in the clinic, she’s being a fabulous bonus mum and dog-mum to Ted, the clinic’s unofficial goodwill ambassador.
Simone Bursey

The Assessment Journey: Comprehensive Insights

Intake
We begin with a comprehensive discussion about your concerns. To gain a well-rounded understanding of your child, we’ll ask you to complete some questionnaires about their behaviour at home. We also value the insights of educators, so we’ll request information from your child’s school or daycare. These diverse perspectives are crucial in building a complete picture of your child’s experiences across different environments.

Assessment
Our team dedicates approximately 20 hours to getting to know your child thoroughly. We explore various aspects of their development, including standardised autism assessments conducted with both clinicians present. This in-depth approach allows us to capture a holistic view of your child’s unique abilities and challenges.

Review and Report
Our clinical team carefully analyses all the information gathered. While we don’t provide a diagnosis ourselves, we do make a recommendation based on our findings. You’ll receive a comprehensive report that includes our assessment results, our recommendation, and a personalised roadmap for your child’s future support.

Next Steps
We’ll guide you through the report findings and support you in taking the next step: having our recommendation confirmed by a paediatrician or psychiatrist. This aligns with best practice standards, ensuring the highest quality of care for your child.
