Originally from Brisbane, Claudia has recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast to live out her dream life by the beach. It’s been an easy transition considering our gorgeous weather and her dramatically deeming anything below 26 degrees Celsius as being “arctic”.
Her passion for working with children started when she got her first job in high school dressing up as a fairy for children’s birthday parties. Since then, she’s worked in various caregiving roles over the years including 5 seasons as a head camp counsellor in the US. We’re glad she got that entertainment experience when she was younger as being a fairy is actually one of the requirements to be a part of the More Than Able team! She insists she doesn’t NEED the fairy ensemble when she’s answering a phone call… but we aren’t too sure about that.
Claudia is currently studying for a Diploma in Counselling with advanced study majors in Child Development and Effective Parenting, Family Therapy and Expressive Therapies. She is also a volunteer with Down Syndrome Queensland and understands the importance of support for our families in the disability sector.
Claudia has done quite a lot of travelling in her short life (she’s only 31, but has the energy and sparkle of a 21-year-old!), and has developed a real appreciation for the uniqueness of people in all corners of the globe. She’s also incredibly warm, has the most infectious smile, deeply appreciates a job well done, and brings an exceptional joy to the MTA team. We are confident that all of her loveable-ness would have been a joy to encounter as she travelled, but we sure are grateful she’s based herself here with us.
When she’s not trotting the globe, you can find Claudia at her local CrossFit gym, the beach or busting out a questionably-pitched show tune with her husband in their very own carpool karaoke on the way to the supermarket.
Factoids about Claudia:
- Had a pet snake growing up (a spotted python named Venus)
- Not afraid of creepy-crawlies so quite handy to have around if you need a spider relocated
- Quit gymnastics when she was 12 but can still hold a decent handstand
